Course Curriculum

Module 1

The Philosophical & Astronomical Foundation

Welcome to Module 1 of your Foundations of Vedic Astrology certification.

In this module, you will step into the ancient and sacred world of Jyotish — the science of light. Before we learn to read a chart, we must first understand why astrology works, what the heavens represent, and how the celestial framework is constructed.

This module answers three fundamental questions:

Why does astrology work? — You will explore the Vedic concept of Karma, the role of the Grahas (planets) as cosmic administrators of destiny, and the purpose of astrology as a tool for self-awareness and spiritual growth.

What is the celestial stage? — You will learn the structure of the zodiac (12 Rasis), the 27 Nakshatras (constellations), and how time is measured and calculated for astrological purposes.

How is a chart constructed? — You will understand the mathematical foundation of a horoscope: planetary longitudes, the Ascendant (Lagna), the house system (Bhava), and the nine Grahas that form the core of every chart.

By the end of this module, you will have a solid philosophical and technical foundation. You will understand not just how to calculate a chart, but why every element exists and what it represents.

Module 2

Decoding the Planets, Signs, and Houses

You now know the planets, the signs, and the houses as separate pieces of the cosmic puzzle. In Module 2, you will learn how they work together.

A planet in a sign tells you how that planet expresses its energy — the style, the quality, the flavour. A planet in a house tells you where that planet operates — which area of life it influences. A planet's rulerships tell you which houses it controls and therefore which life areas it connects.

This module teaches you the art of synthesis. You will learn:

Planetary Karakatwas — what each planet signifies (the Sun = soul, Moon = mind, Mars = strength, etc.)

The 12 Signs in Depth — each sign's nature, element, quality, and ruling planet

The 12 Houses in Depth — each house's complete indications, from self to expenses

The Integration of Planet + Sign + House — how to read a single placement and understand its meaning

By the end of this module, you will look at a chart and see not random symbols but a coherent story: the soul (Sun) expressing itself through courage (Mars in Aries) in the area of career (10th house), the mind (Moon) seeking emotional security (Moon in Cancer) in the area of home (4th house), and so on.

This is the heart of foundational chart reading.

Module 3

Foundations of Vedic Astrology

You have learned the building blocks — planets, signs, and houses. Now you will learn how they interact, combine, and transform each other. This module introduces the essential patterns that every astrologer must recognize: the relationships between planets, the combinations for wealth and poverty, and the foundational Yogas that confer status and fortune.

In this module, you will learn:

Planetary Relationships — natural, temporary, and compound friendships and enmities. How to determine if two planets are friends, enemies, or neutral in a given chart.

Dhana Yogas (Wealth Combinations) — the specific planetary placements that bring wealth, prosperity, and financial abundance. Also, Daridra Yogas (poverty combinations) that indicate financial struggle.

Foundational Raja Yogas — the kingly combinations formed by lords of angles (Kendras) and trines (Trikonas). These Yogas confer status, authority, and recognition.

Introduction to Divisional Charts (Vargas) — with special focus on the Navamsa (D-9), the most important divisional chart for understanding spouse, dharma, and the subtle strength of planets.

By the end of this module, you will not only see individual placements but recognize the patterns and relationships that define a chart's core themes.
